Abu Jahl Biography
Do not blame his father. The dull of the dead harms living, but does not reach the deceased. Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah blesses him and welcomes the wandering horseman. So the Prophet, may Allah bless him and welcomes him, greeted Ikrim at the end of the third decade of his life, when the prophet merciful announced his call to the true path and the right business.
He was the most noble, rich and noble among all Quraysh. According to the logic of things, he would have to rightfully accept the Islamic faith after such fellow tribesmen as Saad Ibn Abu Vakkas, Musab Ibn Umair and other representatives of the noble births in Mecca, if not for his father. Who do you think was his father? It was the greatest Meccan hero, the Supreme Leader of the Gentiles and the master of sophisticated and cruel torture, through which Allah checked the resistance of the faithful faith, and they withstood it.
Through his intrigues, Allah experienced the truth of the religion of believers, and they confirmed their resistance to say enough that his father was called Abu Jahl .... Being the worst enemy of the Messenger of Allah, he caused great harm to his associates and subjected Muslims to the fierce torture to the greatest joy of his father.
Before the battle of Badra, where Abu Jahl commanded the forces of the Gentiles, he vowed with the name of al-Lat and al-ul-zzi1, which would return to Mecca, only defeating Muhammad. Arriving in the Badr, Abu Jahl arranged a festival with sacrifice, drinking wine and singing of the singers during the battle of Abu Jahl Ikrim was his support and punishing her right hand.
However, al-Lat and al-Uzza remained deaf to the call of Abu Jahl, because they were not able to hear anything at all, they did not help him in the battle at all, since Abu Jahl could not do this on the battlefield under Badra. His son Ikrim, with his own eyes, saw the spears of Muslims his body, and he was bleeding. With his own ears, Ikrim he heard the dying scream of his father, breaking out of his mouth.
A crushing defeat did not allow him to bring his father’s body to Mecca to bury him there. He was forced to flee, leaving his father’s body to the Muslims who threw him along with dozens of murdered pagans into the dried up well Kulaib, where the sand fell asleep. If in the beginning he was at enmity with Islam at the instruction of his father, now he has embarked on the path of revenge.
Together with a group of other people whose fathers were killed at Badra, Ikrim began to incite the flame of hatred for Muslims and Muhammad in the hearts of the Gentiles. He skillfully inflated the coals of revenge in the souls of the Kuraysh, up to the battle of the worship. His wife Hakim followed with him, so that, together with other women who lost their husbands at Badra, stand behind the rows of warriors and inspire them to fight with their game on the vestibules.
They also had to be behind the Kurayshite cavalry in order to prevent her, to flight. On the left flank, the horsemen was commanded by Ikrim Ibn Abu Jahl. At that time, these were the two most skilled cavalrymen among the Gentiles, which bowed the scales of the scales in favor of the Quraysh in battle with Muhammad and his supporters. Choosing a place where the moat was the narrowest, he led his cavalry to the storm.
As a result of this reckless attempt by Ikrim and several of his people, it was possible to force the moat, but in this battle the AMR Ibn Woodd al-Amiri himself died in this battle. Therefore, Muslims were allowed to join Mecca. This was also facilitated by the fact that the Messenger of Allah ordered his commanders to enter only in response fighting against the inhabitants of Mecca.
They got into a fight with a large detachment. In this clash, Khalid ibn al-Valid defeated them. Some of the supporters of Ikrim were killed, and some managed to escape. Ikrim ibn Abu Jahl was among those who managed to escape. Having submitted to the Muslims, all Mecca turned away from him. The Messenger of Allah forgave those Kuraysh, who previously opposed him, however, this forgiveness did not spread to a small group of people named by name.
The Messenger of Allah ordered to kill them, even if they hide behind the Caaba walls. The first in this list was the name of Ikrim Ibn Abu Jahl. For this reason, he secretly left Mecca and headed for Yemen, as he only hoped to find a shelter there. When they entered him, they saw that he had two of his wives at that time, his daughter Fatima, as well as other women from the Abd al-Muttalib clan.
Praise Allah, who sent this religion for us. I turn to you to treat your relatives with good. I am a truly believing woman. Hind continued: - I swear by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, on the whole earth there was no more hated home for me than yours, but now there is no more beloved house for me than yours on the whole earth. Fake merge over him and Allah will mercy on you. The Messenger of Allah answered her: “He is safe.” Ikrim's wife immediately went after him with her Vizantian servant.
When they made part of the path, his servant began to persistently try to seduce her.Hind in everydayly exhorted and rejected his claims until they reached the place inhabited by the Arabs. When Hind called them to the rescue, they tied the Visantate servant and left him at home. Women continued their journey until they found Ikrim on the Red Sea coast in the Tikhama area. At this time, he just agreed with the Muslim sailor on transportation.
The sailor exhorted him: - Become sincere, and I will transport you. Ikrim exclaimed: - Yes, I fled from this! When they were bought in a similar way, Umm Hakim approached Ikrim and said to him: “O cousin, I came to you from the best, most fair and kindest people, I came from the best of them - Muhammad ibn Abdullah ... I asked him for safety for you.
He guaranteed your safety, and your soul will not die now. On the way, she told Ikrim about the behavior of their Vizantian servant. Ikrim drove into this place and killed the Byzantine, not yet accepting the Islamic faith. When they stopped at the way along the way, Ikrim tried to divide the marital bed with his wife, but she opposed this most categorical way.
The amazed Ikrim said: “Obviously, this is very serious if it prevents you from dividing the bed with me.” When Ikrim was already on the way to Mecca, the Messenger of Allah said to his associates: “The believer of Ikrim will come to you.” Soon Ikrim and his wife arrived at the place where the Messenger of Allah was sitting. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, rushed to him with great joy, not even putting on his outerwear.
When the Messenger of Allah sat in the place standing in front of him, Ikrim said: “O Muhammad, Umm Hakim informed me that you gave me the safety of Ikrim asked:“ What are you calling for, O Muhammad? ” Promise to make a prayer, then the Prophet later listed all the pillars of Islam. Ikrim said: - I swear by Allah, everything you call for, - truth. You command only good to do.
He further said: “You were among us, and even before you handled his calls, he was the most truthful and righteous person further:“ O Messenger of Allah, teach me the best words that I have to say. ” Ikrim said these words. After that, the Messenger of Allah told him: “Today you can ask me everything that I gave to someone and you will get it.” Ikrim said: “I ask you to forgive me all my previous enmity, any actions that were directed against you, and any of my evil words that I told you personally or in your absence.
The Messenger of Allah said: - Oh Allah! Forgive him all his past enmity and any actions aimed at extinguishing your light, as he wanted this. Forgive him all his attempts to discredit me in my presence and in absentia. Ikrim's face was illuminated by joy, and he said: “I swear by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, in comparison with what I spent against Allah, I will spend more and more in the name of Allah.” And if I fought against Allah, now I will fight many times more in the name of Allah.
At the same time, he sobbed, reverently before Allah and fearing him. Having accepted the Islamic faith, Ikrim took part in all the battles of Muslims. In any campaign, he was at the forefront of the fighters. In the battle of Yarmouke, Ikrim was eager for battle, just as a man, exhausted by thirst on a hot day, strives for cold water. When the Muslims fell into a critical position in one of the battles, Ikrim dismounted, broke his sword scan and rushed into the thick of the Byzantines.
Khalid ibn al-Valid hurried to him with the words:-Do not do this, Ikrim! If you are killed, it will be a heavy loss for Muslims. Ikrim answered him: “Leave me, Khalid you have long been an associate of the Messenger of Allah.” And my father and I were the worst enemies of the Prophet. Let me atone for the past, then he said: - In many battles, I fought against the messenger of Allah.
And what, should I run away from the Byzantines today?! It never happens! Then he appealed to the Muslims: - Who will vowe to go to certain death?
