Vera Chaplin Biography
Vera Vasilievna Mikhailova was born a literary pseudonym-Chaplin in a noble family: grandfather is a prominent Trinding Engineer V. Chaplin, her mother graduated from a conservatory, father-a lawyer. After the revolution, the ten -year Vera was lost and, like a street girl, ended up in an orphanage in Tashkent.
In the year, her mother found Vera and brought to Moscow. At 16, the girl entered the circle of young biologists of the Moscow Zoo. This circle was led by a well -known naturalist and great nature lover Peter Alexandrovich Manteifel. He taught children to love animals, to protect and study nature. The circle was small and very friendly. Children helped ministers to remove cells, feed animals and birds, and scientists - to observe animals, recorded their behavior in diaries, weighed animal babies and monitored their growth.
Vera in the zoo learned a lot of new and interesting: what badgers, sables, porcupines are born, how animal habits change. In the year, V. Chaplin proposed organizing a “young animal site” and later became its manager. It was a very difficult thing. It was possible to get a book where it is written how to feed the calf, but how to feed the baby wolverine or a honeycomb is not written anywhere.
I often had to learn from my own mistakes. In the year, Chaplin was appointed head of the predators section. For more than 30 years, Vera Vasilievna gave to the Moscow Zoo, and since the year she switched to permanent literary work, becoming a member of the Writers' Union in the year. The first stories of V. Chaplin about her pets, published in the magazine “Young Naturalist”, aroused such an interest that “Detgiz” immediately invited her to write a book.
True, the writer was not satisfied with the collection of stories “Kids from the Green Playground” and subsequently recycled him. The second book - “My Pupils” - was published in the year. It placed stories about the animals that V. Chaplin herself fed, tired, brought up: the lion cub “threw”, the monkey “baby”, the fox “kutsy”, the morjikha “nyurka”, the “Argo” wolf, the “Loska” Losenka and other animals.
These stories not only discovered their own style of the writer, but also became one of the best in her work. And the story about the lioness was thrown, brought up in a city apartment, became a real bestseller. In the book “Pets of the Zoo”, V. Chaplin talks about the work of his colleagues with different animals: Shango elephants, crocodiles “Crocodiles”, Levi Levi, deer “Like a Zootics Overwitted deer”, Medvets, with birds “Condor”, “Galina Pets”, etc.
The cycle of late stories “Random meetings” manifest new features of Vera Vasilyevna Chaplin. The writer is no longer so much telling some stories as it simply helps to notice and see our, not always noticeable, four-legged and winged neighbors. After all, all my stories are taken from life, and everything that is written in them is true. ” These are the lines of the writer from the preface to the last book.
