After all, then philologists, linguists, and art historians went here on expeditions. It was the best journey of my life. Vershinino, Porzhenskoye, Maselga ... There are no places better! The combination of a bright blue sky, a gray hut tree and a pink Ivan, was forever remembered. Well, then there was my thesis - illustrations for the novel by Fedor Abramov “Brothers and Sisters”, which was marked by the silver medal of the Academy of Arts.

Since then, I dreamed of returning here. Many years have passed, I changed the profession, became a journalist on television, moved from my native Petersburg to Moscow. And a year ago, the operator Leonid Aronchikov and I visited Verkol, removed a special report for the Russia 24 - Babya share. How not to describe what you see here ... The main value of the North - where did you go during the trip? My surprise knew no bounds. The gray Odigitriye church has become white - it is now restored. Then the path lay in Matigora.

We met the head of the administration Alexei Korotkoy. The most important value of the North is people. And Alexei is just like that, you speak with him and you’ll drink a clean uncomplicated water. How much he does for his native village! Thanks to him, the fields around the unique Voskresensky church were not built up with new houses. But there are so many examples when the fields are built up when the landings of valuable plants are destroyed, when historical species spoil.

Alexey Korotkoy confirms the reasoning of how great the role of the individual in history is. I have visited a lot. Perhaps the roads of the Saratov region are worse. And I’m not talking about the path from St. Petersburg to Pskov: it will shake the whole soul. People of the province-any journalist has a specific goal in a professional search: people, plots, history. What are you looking for? When Leonid Aronchikov and I shot in Verkol Babu Dau, it was necessary to show people who opened the second front.

Who brought the victory closer. These are the last Russian peasants, those who sting with a sickle worked for the "sticks" on the collective farm. In our film, the dignity and beauty of these people are visible. Their scale. Not small people. After all, you can be a famous, but small professor, artist, writer. And you can have four classes of education, but be a truly large person.

By the way, Dmitry Sergeyevich Likhachev wrote about the intelligence of the northern peasants. How do they differ in mentally, if there are differences? She is alone. People come here to work, and the rest of the time to do everything so as not to ditch health. There is little peace of mind here, they are not called to visit here. What immediately surprised me when I moved to Moscow.

You take an interview from some famous artist, and he never asks your name. And the interview is always not prescribed at home, but in a state -owned institution. St. Petersburg is the same province, only without provincial slowness and pure white snow. My hometown has quickly become provincial in recent years, alas.
