After graduating from the People’s School, he was determined in the year as a psalmist and began to serve in the Nikolaev Church of the village of Osintsevsky Irbit district. Mentions of the village of Shogryshsky are found in documents from the first half of the 17th century, and at that time it was called the Sogrysh village. This name came from the word "snogger" - "swamp", since the village was surrounded by peat bogs.

The putrids rising from them and the absence of running water made this area unfavorable to health. The stone temple in the name of St. Nicholas with the aisles in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the Martyr Flora and Lavra was built in the village at the expense of parishioners in the first third of the 19th century. By the beginning of the twentieth century, about four thousand inhabitants lived in the village of Shogryshsky, along with the surrounding villages, and among them there were neither schismatics nor sectarians, which was rare for the Ural villages.

The inhabitants of Shogryshsky were mainly engaged in agriculture, as well as various crafts: cutting firewood in neighboring iron plants, the production of charcoal, the development of stone coal on the Egorhin shrubs, harvesting peat from swamps and the like. Three members of the Count was laid for the Nicoloi Church: one priest, one deacon and one psalmist. The families of sacred and clergymen in two houses at the church lived.

An alarming news one after another reached the father of Nikolai: in the last days of February, he was arrested and imprisoned, a priest of the nearby village of Beloschyudsky Menshikov, repeated attempts to arrest the priest of the village of Antonovsky Ryaposov. In the summer of the year, the Urals was in the combat area.

Martial law was introduced in the Irbit district. The front was approaching the village of Shogryshsky: in early July, the offensive of the Czechs began on the village of Egorshinskoye, located only a few kilometers from Shogryshsky. The situation became increasingly tense, red terror intensified in the vicinity: Father Konstantin Slovtsov was brutally killed in Egorshinsky, Father Nikolai Uduntsev was brutally killed in the village of Koptelovsky, in the village of Pokrovsky - Father Plato of Mountains with two parishioners; The priest of the sarafan father of Florenty Troitsky was arrested twice.

The terrible fate befell the father of Nikolai Ponomarev.
